Camila Cabellorecognizes that her rebrand and dramatic makeover is a 'risky' move.
While reflecting on dyeing her hair platinum blonde and embracing a new sound ahead of the release of her fourth album,C,XOXO, which comes out Friday, the pop star, 27, acknowledged the possible consequences of herimage reboot and new 'party girl' aesthetic.
'It's so ironic. I feel like the inauthentic thing to do would be to give the public what you know is gonna work for you, or what they're already expecting from you,' she toldComplex. 'That's the easy way to keep going like, "Oh, you like 'Havana', I'll give you five more of those."'
She continued: 'But, it's so much more risky and comes from a place of artistic integrity to be like, "Well, I'm actually going to depart from the thing that everybody knows and likes about me in order to try things and experiment and evolve as an artist."'
The four-time Grammy nominee also stated that she still feels like she's 'learning to be a woman' after launching to stardomat age 15 after competing on The X Factor

The former Fifth Harmony star pointed out that her personal evolution is reflected on her new album.
She explained: 'It felt like this exploration of girlhood into womanhood … even the line in 'Dream Girls', where I'm like, all the girls that are learning to be women now get the album', I feel like it really feels like me … learning to be a woman.'
In February, the performer deleted everything off her Instagram, apart from two posts, featuring her new hair color.
A month after debuting her new hair color, she spoke about the transformation on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddypodcast.
'You know, I felt like I needed a big, physical change,' she explained of her decision to go blonde. 'I feel, I don't know, my dark hair has been with me for all of my life, like it was just a significant part of how the public saw me, how the world saw me, and how I saw myself.'
She continued: 'I feel like it's just been a year of, like, the theme has very much been "play" and "transformation" and changing and being brave.'
Cabello also noted that her 'music is so different' and that 'the world is so different that for so many reasons' that she wanted to make a 'physical change' to accompany that.
Before committing to her new hair color, she confessed to trying on wigs 'because it's such a big change.'

'I do feel like everyone should do it... it brings out a different part of your personality. It's kind of like a YOLO,' she gushed.
During the interview, Cabello talked about her brief reconciliation with Shawn Mendes and tropical getaway with Drake.
Despite packing on the PDA with the Mercy singer, 25, at Coachella last year, she realized 'it's not a fit' with them.
'Luckily, I was in a place in my life where it took me less time to realize that. It took us both less time to be like, 'This doesn't feel right, and we really don't need to try so hard to make it work,'' she explained.
'It's all good. This is not feeling good. Let's be friends. I love you, it's all good let's move on, you go do your thing … become the person that you're becoming, and I'll root for you,' she said.
Speaking of their reconciliation, she called it a 'fun moment'.

'I'm kind of impulsive in that way, I would say. If I feel it, I say it, and I'm not really good at not doing that,' she said. 'Then the worst place for it to live in is my mind and then I'm like Ryan Gosling in The Notebook building a house for this person.
'I would rather say it and see what happens, and then wake up the next day and find out that it's been heavily documented,' she added.
'I opted for that route. It is what it is. It was a great route, it was a fun time. It was a fun moment.'
Though they are no longer together, she still spoke highly of her ex, praising him as a 'good guy.'

'I will always care about him and love him. He's such a good person and I'm lucky because some people have exes that are awful, and he is not. He's a really kind, good person,' she said.
She also dished on her trip to Turks and Caicos back in December with Drake.
The duo were spotted jet-skiing together and having an intimate conversation at Turks and Caicos Islands' hotspot Noah's Ark Beach Club in footage obtained by Pop Crave.
'First of all, I wouldn't say 'straight up vacation.' It was vacation, plus work,' she said.
'You know what, I love that man. I love him. We all love him,' she added.
But she averted answering a question about whether or not they had ever dated: '[Have I ever had a] beautiful artistic collaboration with him? I may or may not have.'

Camila said called the vacation a 'friends trip' as she revealed how they both ended up in the Caribbean with one another.
The songstress described how she listens to Drake's tunes while writing her own music. She contacted him, asking if he wanted to listen to her new album.
'So we hung out, I played him my album,' she said. 'He loved it ... it was also such a surreal moment for me to play Drake my songs.'
'It's a dream. I remember being there and being like, wow, this is so f**king sick and he's so generous and so kind and - but anyway, so I didn't like just go on vacation with him,' she explained.
'It was like a vacation, like, work thing. But honestly, I will say I love him. And that has been such a fun part about this whole experience.'
