Welcome to the Renewal Grasps Stasis Hunter Build Guide! Renewal Grasps are seeing a rework with the launch of The Final Shape, granting a very simple way of gaining the new buff Frost Armor. These provide a solid team survivability choice, which is more important after the Well of Radiance nerf lowering team survivability.
Renewal Grasps work by granting you or teammates a stack of Frost Armor every 0.9 seconds while standing in the area of a Duskfield Grenade. Enemies that are within the area have their outgoing damage reduced by 50%. So these can be used to throw Duskfields at your feet or at an enemy to increase survivability. To maximize survivability you and the enemy want to both be within the Duskfield Grenade area.
These Exotic gauntlets can be used in a wide variety of activities from Grandmaster Nightfalls to Raids to Dungeons. These could very easily become one of the best ways of increasing Fireteam survivability.
WARNING: Tessellation requires The Final Shape DLC to be obtained.

Gameplay Loop
This loop is all about prioritizing high damage enemies and maintaining uptime on Duskfield Grenade. You throw the Duskfield Grenade at a target or group of targets and enter the Duskfield with them. This provides yourself with Frost Armor damage reduction while at the same time reducing the enemy damage output by 50%.
From here you use your Tessellation to defeat enemies and return grenade energy. Make sure to also use your Disparity with Headstone to create and destroy Stasis Crystal. Destroying these Crystals increase your base grenade regeneration rate for more Duskfield spam. Do not be afraid to sit and take damage hits from low tier enemies to increase grenade regeneration further with Whisper of Torment.
Tessellation can also be used to forgo a Duskfield for a high damage shot to instantly eliminate most higher tier enemies. Make sure to be activate your class ability often to slow enemies as it recharges quicker with Winter's Shroud.
Ability Breakdown
Super
- Silence and Squall - Summon two Stasis kamas, Silence and Squall, that you throw one after another. This is the only choice for Stasis Hunter, use to throw at large groups and bosses.
- Silence : Creates a flash-freeze blast that Freezes and damages targets.
- Squall : Creates a Stasis Storm that Slow and damages targets caught inside.
Abilities
- Marksman's Dodge - Reloads your equipped weapon on use.
- Triple Jump - Jump of your choice.
- Withering Blade - Throws a Stasis Shuriken that damages and Slows targets. Bounce between enemies making for great ad clear.
- Duskfield Grenade - Leaves behind a field that continually Slows and Freezes combatants. Generates Frost Armor stacks while standing in the field with Renewal Grasps, and reduces enemy damage output by 50% when they are inside.
Aspects
- Grim Harvest - Defeating Slowed or Frozen combatants creates Stasis Shard. These shards grant melee energy when picked up by you or your allies.
- Winter's Shroud - On dodge Slows nearby enemies, and Slowing targets increases your class ability regeneration. Grants damage reduction when activated.
Fragments
- Whisper of Torment - Regen grenade energy per incoming damage instance, increases while you have Frost Armor.
- Whisper of Rime - Increases duration and stack limit of Frost Armor.
- Whisper of Fissures - Increases the damage and size of the burst when you destroy a Stasis crystal or defeat a Frozen target.
- Whisper of Durance - Slow you apply to targets and certain lingering abilities last longer.
- Whisper of Shards - Shattering a Stasis Crystal grants 500% Additional Base Grenade Regeneration Rate for 6 seconds, up to a maximum of 11 seconds.
Gearing
Required Gear and Weapons
Renewal Grasps are what provides your Duskfields with the stacking Frost Armor and damage output reduction to combatants. This build is not possible without these Exotic Arms.
How to acquire:
- Purchase from Xur (his loot rotates weekly).
- Decrypting exotic engrams at Rahool (it is a random exotic drop, but prioritizes exotics you currently do not have, known as the knockout system).
- Farm the expert lost sector on Arm Armor days.
- Note: this exotic is not locked behind a DLC.
Recommended Weapons
- Kinetic Weapon: Disparity - This Pulse Rifle with Rapid Hit & Headstone is a great option with the massive Pulse Rifle buff within The Final Shape. Rapid Hit is a top tier reload perk, while Headstone provides extra ad clear and grenade recharge with Whisper of Shards.
- Energy Weapon: Tessellation - Provides grenade energy on eliminations for more Duskfield Grenade spam, and when grenades are not needed for survivability, you can consume them to load a high damage shot to burst a large target or clear a large horde. Also takes on a Stasis element to match your Weapon Surges.
- Power Weapon: Cold Comfort - This Rocket Launcher with Envious Assassin & Bait and Switch is a great DPS option to match your Stasis Weapon Surge on your boots to take full advantage of the damage bonus across your loadout.
Stat Priorities
- Resilience > Discipline > Mobility.
- Resilience is the amount of damage you can take before dying, as well as your shield capacity.
- Discipline is what reduces your grenade cooldown.
- Mobility will give you more movement speed and jump height, also lowers dodge cooldown.

Armor Mods
- Helmet
- Harmonic Siphon - Rapid final blows create orbs of power.
- Special Ammo Finder - Spawns a Special Ammo Brick upon scoring a Weapon Kill after reaching 100% Counter Progress. Counter is only progressed by Weapon Kills.
- Heavy Ammo Finder - Spawns a Heavy Ammo Brick upon scoring a Weapon Kill after reaching 100% Counter Progress. Counter is only progressed by Weapon Kills.
- Gauntlets
- Harmonic Loader - Increases your Stasis weapon reload speed.
- Impact Induction x2 - Causing damage with a powered melee attack reduces your grenade cooldown.
- Chest
- Resist mods, your choice - choose for the activity you are going into!
- Leg
- Stasis Weapon Surge x2 - Increases Stasis Weapon Damage while you have active Armor Charges, 17% with 2 Surges equipped.
- Recuperation - Replenishes health each time you pick up an Orb of Power.
- Mark
- Time Dilation - Your decaying Armor Charge has a longer duration.
- Powerful Attraction - Use your class ability to collect Orbs around you automatically.
- Bomber - Reduces grenade cooldown when using your class ability.

Artifact Mods
This Renewal Grasps Stasis Hunter build does not require any artifact mods from season/episode.
Variants
- Weapons can be shifted depending on your preference.
- Eyasluna or The Navigator for Woven Mail damage reduction in a team.
- Weapon of choice with Demolitionist
- The Slammer or Typhon GL5 - These are great alternatives while maintaining the Stasis element for your weapon surges.
Summary
The survivability from Renewal Grasps Stasis Hunter is next to unmatched and could see a big uptick in usage with the Well of Radiance nerf. This build could become imperative to surviving boss damage phases within The Final Shape. Overall this build is a great option for support and high end activities where enemy damage can become an issue.
This is easily my favorite go to build in the game right now, I highly recommend giving it a go!
